SUPERCHARGED CAR FERRIES

CLEAN, SILENT

SUPERCHARGED
CAR FERRIES

Car ferries usually travel the same route for many years. The trip is often short and close to residential areas. Clean, silent and cheap to run with very low emissions, an electric vehicle will reduce noise and air pollution and significantly reduce operating costs.

When building a new ferry, the prices for electric and conventional drivelines are comparable. When converting an existing ferry, there are many EU and national grants available to help.

PRODUCING CLEAN ENERGY FOR A CLEANER FUTURE

CO2 AND NOx EMISSION REDUCTION
There is pressure on politicians to reduce CO2 and NOx emissions in order to protect the environment and citizens' health. Typically state-owned and running short routes, electricity is the ideal fuel for car ferries.

Taxes on commercial diesel fuel are likely to be imposed or increased as the demand for environmentally-friendly solutions increases, so electrifying the fleet means savings for the public purse.

If car ferries are run by private companies, electric vessels will offer a commercial advantage in the future when city councils begin to incentivize environmentally-friendly nature of vessels.

QUICK CHARGING

'SUPERCHARGED' CHARGING TIME

The development of batteries in recent years has made it possible to "Supercharge" which means that a ferry can charge in less than 10 minutes and run for an hour. Charging will thereby hardly affect the timetable.
A COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTION

COST SAVINGS

When building a new boat, the prices for electric and conventional drivelines are comparable and the investment in electric soon pays off in lower maintenance and running costs. When converting an existing boat, there are many EU and national grants available to help.
QUIET

NO NOISE POLLUTION

There is also no noise pollution, meaning that a boat fitted with Echandia's system will have a low impact on the local environment. Customers will choose an electric sightseeing boat with a clear conscience and love the peaceful journey you offer them.

SETTING THE FIRST EXAMPLE
FOR CLEANER CITIES
All of which means that when a company invests in a new sightseeing boat or retrofits an old one, investing in the latest technology is a wise business move. What's more, Echandia Marine's flexible electrification enables ship owners to take small steps towards this goal by investing in electric drivelines without having charging infrastructure not yet in place.
